I looked at the edge of the water

At the river.  Like dancing it looked

My daughter would come here and just look

I stood by and then gave her a look

I had to admire how the sun looked

With pleasant, bold makeup she would look

With measured sight, I kept my distance

As I looked at the dirt and the grass,

Measured, I then led her towards me

I stayed watch for the waves to catch us

The breeze brought a message from afar

Where the dancers medley and turned too

I had liked to keep in touch and I

Could do it with my cousin and my

Sister but much more so with my wife,

Affectionately.  That is to say

These are the people I could trust but

I was happy I had my daughter.
